Subfamily:
Tribe:
Distribution: Texas - United States (North America)
Habit: Shrubby-Treelike
Flower: WhiteEncounterability: Unusual in Collections
Species Notes: Comments from Ron Parker:
Of the names Y. rostrata and Y. thompsoniana, Y. rostrata is more current and more correct. That said, many dispute the claim that the names are synonymous. Y. rostrata is larger and less hardy than Y. thompsoniana. In addition, Y. thompsoniana has a different leaf color, size, and texture. Also, Y. thompsoniana branches profusely, while Y. rostrata rarely if ever branches before flowering. There is a push to include Y. rigida in the same group, assigning the name Y. rostrata to all three plants.
